IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service Issues ER-826 to Earthbound Corporation

IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) is pleased to announce that Earthbound Corporation was granted UES evaluation report ER-826 for its Aluminum Plate Extruded (APE) bearing plates to reference the 2021, 2018, 2015, and 2012 editions of the International Building Code® (IBC) and the International Residential Code® (IRC). ER-826 states that the APE bearing plates satisfy applicable code requirements. This allows for the specification of the APE bearing plates by architects, contractors, specifiers, and designers, and approval of installations by code officials. ER-826 also provides code officials with a concise summary of the products’ attributes and documentation of code compliance.

IAPMO Seeks Technical Committee Members for 2027 USPSHTC, USHGC

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is seeking volunteers to participate on two technical committees working toward the development of the 2027 editions of the Uniform Swimming Pool, Spa, and Hot Tub Code® (USPSHTC) and Uniform Solar, Hydronics and Geothermal Code® (USHGC). The deadline to submit an application is August 30. The USPSHTC and USHGC technical committees each seek members in the following categories: manufacturer, user, installer/maintainer, labor, research/standards/testing laboratory, enforcing authority, consumer, and special expert.

ASSE Seeks Working Group Members for Development of National Standards ASSE 1087 and ASSE 1378

ASSE International is seeking members for two unique working groups. One working group will be updating the standards for Performance Requirements for Commercial and Food Service Water Treatment Equipment Utilizing Drinking Water (ASSE 1087). The other working group will be developing a new standard for the Performance Requirements for Point of Entry Anion Exchange – Nitrate Reduction (ASSE 1378).

U.S. GSA’s P100 Document Now Requires ARCSA International Standard Compliance

ARCSA International is pleased to announce the United States General Services Administration (GSA) has accepted its proposed change for the Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service (P100), requiring major capital projects of more than 5,000 square feet employing rooftop rainwater catchment and harvesting systems to comply with relevant ARCSA/ASPE/ANSI standards.

U.S. Government Officially Recognizes Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®)

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has incorporated IAPMO’s Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) in its newly released Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service (P100), marking the first instance that this federal agency has officially referenced the Uniform Codes. 

IAPMO Seeks UMC Task Group Members

The UMC Technical Committee is seeking special subject experts to join the following task groups: Code Change Review: The scope of the UMC Code Change Review Task Group includes the review of proposals submitted as published in the 2024 UMC Report on Proposals (ROP) monograph and develop public comments for the UMC Technical Committee consideration in the development of the 2027 edition of the UMC. Heat Pump Water Heater: The UMC Heat Pump Water Heater Task Group will review UMC Item #162 as published in the 2024 UMC ROP monograph and develop recommendations addressing the proper installation of air-source heat pump water heaters. The recommendations will be forwarded to the UMC Technical Committee as public comment(s) for consideration in the development of the 2027 edition of the UMC.

IAPMO and ASPE Co-publish Capacities of Stacks and Horizontal Drains in Storm Drainage Systems White Paper

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) have co-published White Paper 2-2024: Capacities of Stacks and Horizontal Drains in Storm Drainage Systems. The sizing for storm drainage systems is dependent upon flow capacity equations used to calculate velocities and flow rates in pipe conduits.

IAPMO Advances Development of 2027 Uniform Codes During Technical Committee Meetings

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) recently completed Technical Committee Meetings toward the development of the 2027 editions of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®), which will update the 2024 UPC and UMC, American National Standards governing the installation and maintenance of plumbing and mechanical systems nationwide. During the May 5-10 meetings, the committees acted on 689 proposed amendments to the 2027 editions of the Uniform Codes.
