IAPMO Launches Innovation and Research Fund, Driving Pioneering Solutions in Plumbing, Water, and Mechanical Systems

Ontario, California — IAPMO® is proud to announce the official launch of the IAPMO Innovation and Research Fund, a dedicated initiative designed to fuel pioneering research, develop innovative solutions, and launch impactful projects that address critical issues in the plumbing, water, and mechanical industries. The fund aims to improve public health, strengthen climate resiliency, and increase housing affordability, while contributing to a more sustainable future. 
 
The IAPMO Innovation and Research Fund brings together industry-leading companies, academic institutions, philanthropic groups, and individuals committed to the belief that technological innovation holds the key to improving the quality of life in the communities where we live and work. Through collaboration and cutting-edge research, the fund will focus on addressing pressing challenges in areas such as water access and environmental safety, among others. 
 
Key focus areas of the IAPMO Innovation and Research Fund include: 

  • Water + Health: Research new methodologies that improve water quality and develop methods to deliver water that promote human health and safety.
  • Innovative New Systems: Investigate and promote efficient systems and best practices to address water scarcity, ensuring the sustainable utilization of resources for future generations.
  • New Tools: Driving increased usage of accurate pipe sizing measurements.

Participation in the IAPMO Innovation and Research Fund goes beyond financial support — contributors will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the plumbing and mechanical industries. Austin, Texas, Adopts 2024 Uniform Codes

The Austin, Texas, city council has formally adopted the 2024 editions of the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) as the plumbing and mechanical codes of practice protecting the health and safety of the city’s nearly 1 million residents. The Texas state capital and 11th most populous city in the United States has utilized the Uniform Codes since 1974. 

Iowa Updates State Plumbing Code to 2024 UPC

The Iowa Public Health Department has updated Chapter 25 of the Iowa Administrative Code, “State Plumbing Code,” from the 2021 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) to the 2024 edition. The update went into effect on March 26.
