    IAPMO Seeks Public Input on Manual of Recommended Practice for Hydrogen Fuel Gas Piping

    The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) has opened the public review period for the initial draft of the Manual of Recommended Practice for Hydrogen Fuel Gas Piping. IAPMO initiated the Hydrogen Fuel Gas Piping Task Group — which consisted of industry experts from across the nation and abroad — in March 2022 to create a manual to develop code-enhanced and adoptable language for hydrogen gas piping systems.

    IAPMO Code Change Monographs Now Available

    The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) has made the 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) Technical Committee Meeting Monographs available for download. All individuals anticipating an active role in the American National Standard Institute (ANSI)-accredited consensus development of the Uniform Codes at the technical committee meetings in San Diego, May 6-10.

    IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) is pleased to announce that ITW CCNA was granted UES evaluation report ER-890 to reference the 2021, 2018, 2015, 2012 and 2009 International Building Code® (IBC); the 2021, 2018, 2015, 2012 and 2009 International Residential Code® (IRC); the 2022 California Building Code (CBC); the 2022 California Residential Code (CRC); the 2023 and 2020 Florida Building Code, Building (FBC—Building); the 2023 and 2020 Florida Building Code, Residential (FBC—Residential); the 2023 Los Angeles Building Code (LABC); the 2023 Los Angeles Residential Code (LARC); and the 2013 Abu Dhabi International Building Code (ADIBC).

    California Approves Water Demand Calculator® as Alternate Standard for Sizing Water Supply Piping

    The California Building Standards Commission has approved the adoption of IAPMO’s Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) Appendix M — the Water Demand Calculator® —into the California Plumbing Code (CPC) as an alternative methodology for sizing water pipes in single- and multifamily buildings. The alternative approach will be available for statewide use on a voluntary basis starting July 1, 2024.
