IAPMO Seeks UPC Adult Changing Station Task Group Members

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is accepting applications and seeking technical experts to participate on a task group to address adult changing stations toward the development of the 2027 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC).

The scope of the Adult Changing Station Task Group is to address concerns and establish health and safety requirements, including:

    • design and minimum equipment requirements
    • minimum fixture requirements
    • hygiene and sanitation
    • further development of the provisions from the 2024 UPC Item #097

The task group recommendations will be forwarded to the UPC Technical Committee for consideration in the development of the 2027 edition of the UPC.

Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting, provide their perspective on the code, and assist in drafting recommendations for action by the UPC Technical Committee’s consideration. Applicants are not required to be members of the UPC Technical Committee.

The deadline to apply is May 31.

IAPMO employs a consensus development process accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), gathering one of the largest, most knowledgeable assemblies of plumbing and mechanical experts in the world at its annual education and business conference and technical committee meetings, enabling anyone — members and non-members alike — to lend their voice to proposed changes to the code. The 2027 edition of the UPC will mark the ninth time the UPC has been developed in this manner.

IAPMO urges its members and other interested parties to get involved in the process to ensure effectiveness in preserving the public’s health, safety, and welfare through fair and balanced development of its codes and standards. Installers, plumbing and mechanical officials, the construction industry, engineers, and manufacturers all benefit from a cooperative effort in developing codes.

Anybody interested in serving on the task group may complete the application online HERE
