IAPMO Proudly Supports 2023 National High-Performance Buildings Week

Washington, D.C. – National High-Performance Buildings Week returns as an in-person event to Washington, D.C., for the first time since 2019, with the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) proudly continuing its nearly two decades of support and facilitation.

High-Performance Buildings Week is organized annually by a private sector coalition of building industry stakeholders that support the High-Performance Buildings Coalition (HPBC), of which IAPMO is a founding member; Jim Scarborough serves as HPBC vice chair. Executive Vice President of Government Relations Dain Hansen is the former chair and Vice President of Government Relations Christopher Lindsay is former secretary.

“The HPBC is pleased to be holding the first face-to-face congressional event since 2019,” Scarborough said. “We have an exceptional High-Performance Buildings Week planned that highlights how we can continue to create and maintain a healthy, resilient, and sustainable built environment. We are hosting a congressional briefing focusing on recent legislation passed by Congress, particularly the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act. We will also be meeting with more than a dozen members of the Senate and House to share with them the policy and appropriations priorities of HPBC.”

IAPMO will participate in each of these events this week:

  • High-Performance Buildings Coalition Day on the Hill
Tuesday, June 13, all-day meetings with House/Senate members
  • High-Performance Buildings Coalition Day on the Hill
Wednesday, June 14, all-day meetings with House/Senate members
  • High-Performance Buildings Coalition Meeting and Luncheon
    Thursday, June 15, noon
    Location: IAPMO’s Washington, D.C., Offices
  • Congressional Briefing
    Thursday, June 15, 4 p.m.
    Location: Congressional Visitors Center

Panelists will discuss implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act, covering a considerable portion of the policy chain from development to completion. HPBW Chair Mark Valentini will moderate the discussion.

  • HPBC Reception
    Thursday, June 15, 5 p.m.
    Location: Congressional Visitors Center

The HPBC is a coalition of approximately 200 organizations that provides guidance and support to the High-Performance Buildings Caucus of the U.S. Congress. It supports legislation and policies that protect life and property, promote innovative building technologies, enhance U.S. economic competitiveness, increase energy and water efficiency in the built-environment, advance sustainable and resilient communities, and supports the development of private sector standards, codes and guidelines that address these concerns.

A full list of events (and any last-minute changes) for High-Performance Buildings Week 2023 can be found at: https://hpbuildings.org/events. If you wish to RSVP to any of the events, direct your web browser there.
