Ontario, Calif. — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is pleased to announce the promotion of D.J. Nunez to executive vice president of Field Services.
A veteran of 38 years in the plumbing and mechanical industry, Nunez was hired by IAPMO as a Field Services representative in January 2020 after 19 years with the state of California, starting as a plumbing and mechanical inspector and retiring as the Southern California area manager for the Construction Inspection Management Division. Nunez served on IAPMO’s Board of Directors for 13 years, including as president in 2017 and 2018.
“D.J. brings a unique blend of hands-on knowledge, board governance perspective, and a thorough understanding of our members’ and partners’ needs,” IAPMO CEO Dave Viola said. “As a member of our senior staff team, he’s helped lead our code advocacy efforts, membership recruitment and other major projects throughout the United States.”
A second-generation UA member, following in his father Danny’s footsteps into the trade, Nunez began his career in 1984 with Local 460, completing his apprenticeship and spending 18 years in the plumbing and pipefitting industry before being hired by the state of California.
Nunez was promoted to senior vice president of Field Services in January 2021.
“Coming to work for IAPMO and witnessing our staff’s diverse knowledge and dedication to our industry has been truly rewarding,” Nunez said. “I am appreciative of the opportunity to lead Field Services and our exceptional field managers, who work tirelessly for our membership, stakeholders, and the general public as we continue to be the leader in developing safe and efficient model codes to protect the health and safety of the nation.”
