IAPMO Seeks UPC Task Group Members
Ontario, California — The Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) Technical Committee is seeking special subject experts to participate in the following task group: Building Drain Cured-In-Place.
Mokena, Illinois — ASSE International is seeking working group members to update three professional qualification standards — ASSE 12000 Standard for Water Management and Infection Control Risk Assessment for Building Systems; ASSE 13000 Standard for Service Plumber and Residential Mechanical Service Technician; and ASSE 27000 Standard for Hybrid Fire Extinguishing Systems Personnel.
ASSE professional qualification standard working group members will assist the Professional Qualifications Standards Committee (PQSC) with the continued development of these American National Standards. The working groups will operate in accordance with ASSE’s accredited procedures for standards development: IAPMO/ASSE PP-1 (Policies and Procedures for Consensus Development of American National Standards).
ASSE 12000 will also be a National Standard of Canada and comply with IAPMO PP-2 (Policies and Procedures for Development of National Standards of Canada).
“These standards establish minimum performance criteria, agreed upon by industry consensus, for service plumbers, residential mechanical service technicians, hybrid fire extinguishing systems personnel, and assessors of water management and infection control risk for building systems, and will also help ensure compliance with the referenced standards in each,” said IAPMO Director of Standards Development John Higdon.
The first working group meetings will be held virtually in early August. The deadline to apply is July 31. Applications can be completed at the following URL: https://asse-plumbing.org/membership/committees/working-group-application.
Industry stakeholders — including installers, manufacturers, plumbing professionals, building owners and managers, engineers, AHJs, and the general public — are invited and encouraged to apply to participate.
Contact John Higdon at (909) 218-8123 or by email at john.higdon@asse-plumbing.org with any questions.
