Bekasi, Indonesia — SNI 122:2022, Fitting Supply for Domestic Purposes, has been published by Badan Standardisasi Nasional (BSN), the national standardization agency of Indonesia, following a revision to the original standard based on a decree by the head of BSN (213/KEP/BSN/7/2022).
The revision was initiated by Asosiasi Plambing Nasional (APIN), an Indonesian plumbing association. The standard’s development was carried out by Technical Committee 77-02 of the Center for Formulation, Application, and Enforcement of Industrial Standardization, Agency for Standardization and Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Industry. The development of this standard was partially funded by a grant from the USAID/ANSI Standards Alliance program.
The standard’s product scope includes 15 types of faucet products, namely: (1) bath supply fitting; (2) bidet supply fitting; (3) clothes washer supply fitting; (4) drinking fountain supply fitting; (5) kitchen supply fitting; (6) lavatory supply fitting; (7) lawn faucet; (8) automatic faucet; (9) shower head faucet; (10) high-efficiency shower head faucet; (11) hand shower faucet; (12) high-efficiency hand shower faucet; (13) body spray faucet; (14) high-efficiency body spray faucet; and (15) supply stop.
The SNI 122:2022 standard consists of design, quality, and performance requirements. One of the parameters for the performance requirements is the life cycle, which is determined according to the type of faucet and the location of its use (for example, for a lavatory faucet used in public and private locations).
The flow rate is a parameter associated with high-efficiency faucet products. The flow rate for high-efficiency faucets is in accordance with the Minister of PUPR Regulation No. 21 Year 2021 concerning Performance Assessment of Green Buildings (BGH). For this reason, it is hoped that in the future high-efficiency faucets that meet flow rate parameters can be used in green buildings.
“We would like to thank BSN, APIN, and Technical Committee 77-02 for taking this important milestone of revising this standard,” said Shirley Dewi, senior vice president of PT. IAPMO Group Indonesia. “The SNI 122:2022 standard will not only give assurance to consumers that the plumbing supply fittings they purchase are of good quality, but will also provide the opportunity for the local plumbing supply fittings industry to compete in the global market.”
PT. IAPMO Group Indonesia, a conformity assessment body (CAB) with a plumbing scope, is ready to support the industry in the implementation of SNI 122:2022 by providing testing and SNI product certification.
