ASSE Seeks Working Group Members for Development of National Standard ASSE 1004 and ASSE 1079

ASSE Seeks Working Group Members for Development of National Standard ASSE 1004 and ASSE 1079

Mokena, Ill. — ASSE International is seeking members for two separate working groups to update standards for Performance Requirements for Backflow Prevention Devices used on Commercial Dishwashing Machines (ASSE 1004) and Performance Requirements for Dielectric Pipe Unions (ASSE 1079).

The ASSE 1004 and ASSE 1079 working group members will be assisting the Product Standards Committee (PSC) with the continued development of these American National Standards. The working groups will operate in accordance with ASSE’s accredited procedures for standards development: IAPMO/ASSE PP-1 (Policies and Procedures for Consensus Development of American National Standards).

“These standards address two vitally important concerns — protection of the potable water supply connected to commercial dishwashing machines and prevention of galvanic corrosion caused by the joining of dissimilar metals in plumbing systems,” said John Higdon, IAPMO’s director of Standards Development.

The first working group meetings will be held virtually in November.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 17. Applications can be downloaded through this LINK.

Industry stakeholders — including installers, manufacturers, plumbing professionals, building owners and managers, engineers, AHJs, and the general public — are invited and encouraged to apply to participate.

Interested parties wishing to serve on these working groups, please contact ASSE Standards at standards@iapmostandards.org with a completed application, as well as a copy of your résumé by the Nov. 17 deadline, or you may contact John Higdon at (909) 218-8123 or by email at john.higdon@iapmo.orgo with any questions.
