IAPMO’s National Personnel Certification Program for Inspectors, Plans Examiners and Code Administrators is a nationally recognized, comprehensive testing and certification program that assesses the knowledge of construction codes as an indicator of competence and professionalism.
It provides a valid and reliable professional program of testing that represents all the occupations and technical disciplines in the code administration profession. The program sets the minimum level of required knowledge for individuals working in the profession and commits them to continuous self-development through its certification renewal program.
IAPMO's program meets the needs of Governmental Jurisdictions and agencies who desire an examination and personnel certification program based on codes to determine the knowledge and capability of code administration personnel, and; Individuals who choose to provide evidence of their code knowledge for reasons such as prospective employment or advancement in a current position.

Obtaining an IAPMO certification is a significant professional accomplishment. It is critical to commit to continuous self development to demonstrate your continued competence when you renew your certification(s). IAPMO certifications are valid for three years and must be renewed on or before the expiration date.
If a certification has been expired for less than 3 years from the original expiration date, candidates can reinstate expired certifications by meeting the CEU requirements for certification renewals AND taking the reinstatement exam.
If you hold a valid certification from a comparable, recognized certification program and the certification meets the requirements for reciprocity, you are able to obtain an IAPMO Certification without having to take the initial certification exam.

Violation of any IAPMO test taking policy or attempt to fraudulently will automatically invalidation a candidates exam results and may result in a temporary or permanent ban from IAPMO’s testing services. No fees will be refunded.
