PT. IAPMO Group Indonesia, in partnership with Indonesian plumbing association APPIN, today held an event to increase awareness of the importance of good sanitation and plumbing systems, especially for buildings with large capacities that are used by the general public such as hotels, malls, airports and restaurants.
IAPMO also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing for the inspection of the health aspects of buildings and residential housing in relation to the issuance of building occupancy permits. Additionally, IAPMO Man was introduced as IAPMO’s mascot at the beginning of the event. APPIN, an association with members comprising companies in the plumbing industry, was inaugurated during the event.
IAPMO Group CEO GP Russ Chaney opened the fifth annual event, which was held at the Grand Mercure Hotel in Jakarta and included a performance by SDN Cicau 02 students. Through the 2017 Community Plumbing Challenge, SDN Cicau 02 received eight toilets and a handwashing station. IAPMO also gave the school and surrounding community the gift of a sound system.
The United Nations has 17 Sustainable Development Goals, one of which is clean water and sanitation for all by 2030. This requires an investment in adequate infrastructure, the creation of safe sanitation facilities, and the promotion of cleanliness at every level.
During the first session, speakers from the Ministry of Forestry and Environmental, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, and BSN, Indonesia’s national standardization agency, discussed SNI 8153:2015, Plumbing Systems for Buildings , as one of the tools to be used in support of SDG 2030. The second session began with speakers from the Construction Services Development Board (LPJK), Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, and the University of Indonesia addressing the topic of good plumbing systems in buildings. That was followed by a discussion on the best practices on the installation and maintenance of plumbing products to support a good plumbing system that included representatives from plumbing product manufacturers Rucika and Pralon, as well as Bina Nusantara University.
For the first time in the event’s five-year history, IAPMO and APPIN arranged several activities that were presented as one-day seminars with exhibitions.
