Our History Founded in 1926, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) coordinates the development and adaptation of plumbing, mechanical, swimming pool and solar energy codes to meet the specific needs of individual jurisdictions both in the United States and abroad. Many of the requirements of its Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC®) protect the health and safety of half the people in the world. Plumbing systems are only as safe and efficient as the products that they are made of and the people installing them. Standards of practice, such as the Indonesian National Standard, SNI 8153:2015, Plumbing Systems for Buildings — many of whose requirements are based on the UPC — help mitigate risk and assure safe, healthy drinking water and sanitation.
