BACKFLOW PREVENTION INSTITUTE

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Backflow Prevention Institute® (BPI) provides a higher level of training for all those involved within the backflow prevention industry. It is currently the premier training provider in the cross-connection control industry.

Our class offerings continue to be expanded and revised. Our training is available at locations across the United States and on an international basis. We provide both open enrollment public classes and private classes to contractors and institutions looking for training and certification for their employees. Using independent third-party certification agencies including American Society of Sanitary Engineering- International (ASSE) and American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA), the IAPMO Backflow Prevention Institute offers training and certification in backflow testing, backflow repair, cross-connection control surveying, program administration, and fire sprinkler system backflow testing. BPI’s is currently ASSE largest and most active approved training provider and has had a long relationship with ASSE whose program is one of the oldest and currently the largest program of its kind in the industry. The Institute has begun working with the ABPA in areas which do not recognize the ASSE certifications. The Backflow Prevention Institute training classes provide its students with the training necessary to provide them with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully meet the requirements of almost any authority having jurisdiction. The Institute is a recognized training provider in many states and cities and is approved to offer continuing education credits and the required credit hours in various locations and jurisdictions.

IAPMO’s Backflow Prevention Institute continues to provide educational opportunities to all stakeholders in the industry and to the general public. Our electronic magazine, the Backflow Prevention Journal™ is a vehicle for discussion, innovation, and dialog for everyone working in the plumbing, mechanical, fire protection, or water industry. Please visit Backflow Prevention Journal™ to learn more.

IAPMO BPI uses the most qualified instructors in our training. Our training materials including the IAPMO Backflow Prevention Reference Manual are the best available in the industry today. The Institute can provide the training and certification needed at any location and on any schedule. View our current schedule, schedule training at your facility, or simply explore our website further to learn more about the Institute.
