The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials has been protecting the public’s health and safety for ninety years by working in concert with government and industry to implement comprehensive plumbing and mechanical systems around the world.
As a membership-based association, IAPMO is proud to utilize an open consensus process in the development of our flagship Uniform Plumbing Code® and Uniform Mechanical Code®. These codes are established through scientific research, debate, and analysis, strengthening our position at the forefront of the plumbing and mechanical industries.
The IAPMO Group is a complete service organization, providing code development assistance, industry-leading education, plumbing and mechanical product testing and certification, building product evaluation and a manufacturer-preferred quality assurance program. Each component of the IAPMO Group works toward playing an integral part in protecting the health of people everywhere.

Water Efficiency Codes and Standards
With increasing demand, shrinking supplies, reduced quality and reliability, constrained infrastructure, climate change, and pervasive droughts throughout the world, there is a critical need to reduce water consumption attributed to the built environment through conservation and reuse.
With water conservation and recycling comes increased risks to public health, safety, and building systems performance. This American National Standard is needed to provide a set of requirements developed by the foremost subject matter experts in the fields of plumbing and water efficiency that optimize built environment water use practices in and around buildings while maintaining protection to public health, safety and welfare.
Green Plumbing and Mechanical Code Supplement
The Green Supplement is a separate document from the Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical Codes and establishes requirements for green building and water efficiency applicable to plumbing, mechanical, and solar energy (both hydronic and photovoltaic) systems. The Green Supplement serves as an adjunct to the Uniform Codes or ANY of the plumbing and mechanical codes used in the US.

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has a strong cooperative presence in the nation of India and partnered with the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) to develop a Uniform Plumbing Code for the nation.
The Government of India approved the establishment of IAPMO Plumbing Codes and Standards India Private Limited, to be known as IAPMO-India. IAPMO and the IPA, both members of the World Plumbing Council (WPC), agreed upon a comprehensive plan to work together to establish a model code of plumbing installation and maintenance for all of India, the Uniform Plumbing Code – India. The IPA Code Committee worked with IAPMO staff in creating a document that recognized and utilized proven international concepts, always taking into consideration the proven plumbing practices and customs within India.
IAPMO, the IPA and the Indian Institute of Plumbing (IIP) formed a partnership agreement to provide plumbing training and education throughout India. The agreement identifies four distinct target markets: existing and emerging Engineers, Plumbing Project Managers/Supervisors, basic Plumbing Apprenticeship and task training certification of labor skills. A joint committee of the organizations has been appointed and is already working on the curriculum for each of the four components of the project and development of the training and educational materials.
Built on the reputation of the foremost source of uniform codes and standards in the plumbing and mechanical fields, Uniform Evaluation Service (ES) is the agency of choice for building officials everywhere.
Offering lower prices and faster, more flexible service than other providers, Uniform ES is the smart option for your company’s evaluation needs. Building products, materials, and designs bearing the Uniform ES Mark of Conformity are trusted by contractors, inspectors, officials, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
Uniform ES is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), giving inspectors and other officials the confidence of knowing that all products displaying the Uniform ES shield have met the most rigorous standards and are in full compliance with applicable codes.
