Certificate Renewal Option 1
Certification Renewal Examinations – Option 1

The certification renewal exams are hosted by the National Inspection Testing Certification (NITC) and are not located on the IAPMO website.  Since navigating from one site to another can be confusing, this guide has been created to help you as you go from IAPMO’s website to NITC’s. Print this page for easy reference as you navigate through NITC’s site.

What to expect

  • You will be instructed on how to temporarily disable internet pop-up blockers
  • You will need to locate your NITC account login ID and PIN number.
  • You will need to provide a major credit card number

Finding your way

A.        To get to the proper starting point to take your certification renewal online test, go to the following internet address.

http://www.nationalitc.com/NITCService.cfm?GO=CERTLIST

B.        On this page, you will be shown a list of all of the certification exams that NITC provides, however, you only need to take the exams that are applicable to you.  Read through the list and select whichever one of the following is applicable to you.

IAPMO Mechanical & Plumbing Inspector

IAPMO Mechanical & Plumbing Plans Examiner

C.       Once you are to the page that is specific to you, find the “Online Tests” label and Click on link to the IAPMO Test Site (TesTrac).

Getting to your exam

D.       This will take you to the page that will grant you access to the testing site.  You will know you are in the right place when you see the NITC and IAPMO logos on the left side of your screen.  There are three steps on this page:

STEP 1 -  Temporarily disable your pop-up blocker

STEP 2Look up your login ID and PIN number

STEP 3 Enter Testing Site

E.        Step 1 on this page asks you to temporarily disable any internet pop-up blockers that may be active on your computer.  Instructions on how to do this are listed in the box below Step 3. Since the site uses pop-up screens during the testing process, this step is important.

NOTE: Upon clicking on STEP 3 Enter Testing Site you will be directed to a page that informs you that NITC will be opening a new window.  If a new window does not appear, you might still have pop-up blocker software preventing the window from opening.

 F.        The next thing you need to do is locate you login ID and PIN number.
