William "Bill" Erickson, Director

William Erickson

As the third generation leader of C.J. Erickson Plumbing Co., a 100-year old family plumbing business that employs more than 100 union plumbers, William Erickson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the IAPMO board as a contractor director-at-large. He has been a licensed plumber and a member of the UA for more than thirty years.

“As long as I can remember, I was hanging around the plumbing shop,” said Erickson. “Because it was a family business, it was always a place that felt like home. The other strong positive memories I have are of the people who taught me the trade and the business.”

Erickson’s strong commitment to service and family is reflected in his altruistic works. In commemoration of its centennial anniversary in 2006, C.J. Erickson Plumbing Co. committed to a year of charitable contributions to the community. Under Erickson’s leadership, the company has been involved with numerous fundraisers benefiting Metropolitan Family Services in Chicago and has logged more than 800 hours of community service.

Erickson has served as secretary of the Plumbing Council of Chicagoland, board member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), and co-chair of the 2000 Plumbing Industry Working Committee of Chicagoland. He is an active member of the Government Affairs Committee of the MCAA, the Underground Contractors Association (UCA), the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), and has staff members who are active in the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).  He is also active on IAPMO’s Green Committee.

“As one of the first three-year contractor members of the board, I hope my experience will bring another dimension to IAPMO,” said Erickson. “I am honored to be asked to serve on the board and see myself as a reservoir of information that links what is pure code and practical application. My goal is to use that knowledge to the benefit of IAPMO.”

Beyond his professional life, Erickson enjoys competing in the National Auto Sports Association American Iron Series as crew chief for his racing team. He is also active in the Imperial River Conservancy in Lee County, Florida. Erickson and his wife of fourteen years, Susan Snow, share his two sons, Matt and Luke, and four beautiful grandchildren.
