Jed Scheuermann, Director

Jed Scheuermann

Newly appointed board member Jed Scheuermann began his career in the plumbing industry nearly thirty years ago in Canada. He currently works for the city of Portland, Ore., where he is the section manager for the Facility Permit Program (FPP). He serves on the Oregon State Plumbing Board’s Plumbing Rule Review, Plumbing Standards, Plumbing Examination, and Plumbing Code Change Committees. Scheuermann is a master plumber and is also a certified medical gas, cross connection control, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspector.

Scheuermann has been actively involved with IAPMO since 1995. Since that time, he has served as a member of the Plumbing Code Answers and Analysis Committee and as vice chairman and chairman of the IAPMO Cascade Chapter. He is a member of UA Local 290, where he teaches plumbing code to journeymen and apprentices. He is also a member of the American Society of Sanitary Engineers.

Official readers may recognize Scheuermann’s name from our series on his efforts in the Gulf Coast following the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. Scheuermann’s work does not end there; in fact, he was appointed to the World Plumbing Council Disaster Committee in 2005 and has extensive overseas experience installing plumbing systems and teaching.

In his free time, Scheuermann enjoys photography, fishing, hunting, and canoeing. He also likes to play hockey and lacrosse. “Of course,” he said. “I grew up in the Great White North!”

On a personal level, Scheuermann emigrated to the U.S. from Canada in 1992 to “marry [his] best friend, Carrie.” Together, they have traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America, and the South Pacific. The Scheuermanns live in Boring, Ore., a small town about fifteen miles outside Portland, with their daughters Jordan, 10, and Sierra, 7.
